Do you have chipped, cracked, stained, worn or short teeth? Do you have spaces in your teeth or old crowns? If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be a great candidate for “veneers.”
Veneers can be made of a few different materials but the most popular is porcelain. Veneers are crafted from porcelain and shaped to look like your natural teeth. They are very strong and are designed to look just like your natural teeth and will last a long time with proper care.
What Does Getting Veneers Involve?
Getting veneers usually requires about two visits to complete the process, with little or no anesthesia required during the procedure. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and the dentist.
On the second visit, the teeth are cleaned in order for them to have a more durable bond. The bonding cement is then placed on the tooth and then the veneer is placed on the tooth. A special light is then used to cure or harden the bonding material giving the veneer a nice tight seal to the tooth. Once the process is done, you will receive instructions on how to care for your veneers so they will last a long time and stay in top condition.
